Vite 8.3.6 fixes plugin close races, CSS deps of queried imports and unstable chunk hashes

Vite 8.3.6 was published on GitHub on 5 November as a bug-fix release. The release notes list fixes across the build, the bundled dev mode and the HTML pipeline.

In the build, Vite now resolves dynamic imports that have queries appended when it collects CSS dependencies. It also uses stable module ids in the hash signatures of the chunk import map, fixing hashes that could change between builds of the same input. Separately, overlapping calls to close the plugin container are now awaited instead of racing.

The bundled dev mode gets two fixes: named imports from Node built-in modules are allowed, and the page reloads when hot module replacement cannot run an entry again rather than leaving a stale state. In development, ANSI escape sequences are escaped when console output is forwarded with server.forwardConsole, and the HTML pipeline no longer drops adjacent module script tags on the first line of a document.

The release also updates the alias plugin to 6.0.1 and the Rolldown-related and other non-major dependencies, and Vite now ignores pnpm's .modules.yaml when watching files.

What it means

The stable-hash fix is the one to notice for teams relying on long-term caching: identical input should mean identical file names, and before this patch it did not always.
